New edition of MFA scholarship scheme for students from the Western Balkans

January 6, 2022

Sudents from the Western Balkans who would like to study at the College of Europe in Natolin in the academic year 2022/2023 can apply for a scholarship offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. The deadline for applications is 19 January 2022.

It is yet another edition of the scholarship scheme offered by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and addressed to students from six countries of the region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Serbia. For more information on the enrolment, go to https://www.coleurope.eu/scholarship-scheme-polish-mfa-students-western-balkans-0.

The first edition of the scheme was launched in 2019, on the occasion of Poland’s presidency of the Berlin Process. Supporting youth was one of the presidency’s horizontal priorities. During that time, Poland also provided financial support to the Regional Youth Cooperation Office in Tirana (RYCO). The problems and initiatives of the young generation from the region were also an important part of the debates during the Youth Forum and the Civil Society Forum held as part of the Western Balkans Summit in Poznań in July 2019.

The scholarships offered by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to students from the Western Balkans looking to take up education at the College of Europe in Natolin are part of Poland’s broader activities for the benefit of the region’s youth, which also include an opportunity to take part in the Stefan Banach Scholarship Programme, designated for citizens of the Eastern Partnership countries and certain countries in Central Asia and the Western Balkans. The Programme is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, carried out as part of Polish development assistance.
