At the invitation of the leaders of the European EU STEM Coalition, prof. dr. Xhevdet Thaqi, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the “Kadri Zeka” Public University in Gjilan, participated in the meeting of the EU STEM Coalition Task Force for the Western Balkans in Dubrovnik.
The purpose of this platform is to shape STEM education policies and practices that promote economic growth, opportunity, and well-being for all.During this meeting of the EU STEM Collation, Dean Thaqi presented the structure of UKZ’s study programs, with emphasis on the fields of Information Technology, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and control systems which are developed at UKZ. The purpose of this meeting was to find forms of activities and projects so that together with policy makers, higher education providers and industry, work on promoting new ways of providing education in these fields and finding solutions to evidence-based and skills from STEM.
This meeting also highlighted challenges such as the reduction of those interested in studying and becoming skilled in STEM fields, to the promotion of new ways in which educational institutions, companies and governments can collaborate, in providing a unique forum and knowledge center for data and analysis, sharing of best practices and direct support as and when needed.
Representatives from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands also participated in the European EU STEM Coalition meeting.
The network of European institutions EU STEM Coalition, is a pan-European network working to build better STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education in Europe.
